Fa(l)na
blue collar fabric, bleach, steel and string
2020
Fa(l)na consist of large piece of blue collar fabric, sewn in the form of a flag. This fabric has historically been used for making durable workwear for industrial workers, craftsmen and farmers. In the shape of a flag, it connects to a sphere where the color also gets other connotations: political, ideological, geographical.
Originally, the piece was hung from a wall into a bath of bleach, slowly bleaching the fabric during the period of the exhibition Stubbräcer. In phase two, during the exhibition Ytspänning, the work was mounted on the floor with the broken and bleached fabric wrapped carefully around itself.
