The community tree is a long-term project that deals with community, botany and agricultural history and practice. The work consists of a common apple tree planted in Söderbärke in the spring of 2023, on which new fruit varieties annually are grafted to the rootstock. The idea behind the project is to bring forth something that changes, branches out and diversifies over time through the quite violent act of grafting, but that also serves as a rooted and nourishing place for the community's population and history. In addition to the tree the work also includes a book where fruit varieties, anecdotes and apple recipes can be written down, shared and passed on.
